ShoeBiz x Onitsuka Tiger Welcomes Outside Lands with a Two Day In-Store Kick Off!
Live DJs, Food Carts and Unveiling of a Visual Art Installation by Wendy MacNaughton
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (July 30, 2009) – ShoeBiz SF in collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger presents a hyped two back to back days of kick off and celebration of Outside Lands 2010.
On Thursday, Aug 12 starting 7:30pm, at the ShoeBiz II "Dino Store" (1553 Haight Street) will be the art show opening presenting an inspired visual installation by SF artist, Wendy MacNaughton, whose work recently graced last month's (July 2010) Neighborhood issue of 7x7 magazine. The art opening will feature live music by local songwriter & digi-folk musician, John Givens from What if it Came In Chocolate (SF), and DJ Marky from Massive Selector / SweaterFunk on the turntables. In addition, as member to the great SF Food Cart era, newcomers: Ninja Pie Cart (hand held pot pies), K-town Philly (Korean cheesesteaks!) and chef Marc Tennison will be serving up straight delicious street side grub. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Suubi (“HOPE”) Lunch Program in Uganda. This is a 21 and over event.
Friday, Aug 13 at 12p the party continues at the ShoeBiz II while you shop for the cleanest in urban sneakers. Live 105's Aaron Axelson will be DJ'ing on site and giving away two VIP tickets to the Outside Lands music festival. San Francisco's very own funk hip hop band, 4OneFunk, are slotted for a live set. From Thursday to Sunday, there will be a 15% discount off on any pair of Onitsuka Tigers. Two FREE Events back to back you would not want to miss!
About Artist Wendy MacNaughton:
Wendy has spent most her life in transit. She lived in LA, NY, Amsterdam, Paris, and East Africa before moving back to her hometown of San Francisco. Since settling in San Francisco, Wendy has commuted by subway twice a day, five days a week, 30 minutes each way, where she’s observed and captured hundreds of fellow passengers. Her ink and watercolor drawings reflect the inner worlds of commuters: the quirks, anxieties, and above all the isolation—despite their proximity to others. She also creates maps that convey geography as a transient psychological experience, and personal diagrams that plot her feelings and thoughts as mathematical territory. Her drawings have recently been featured in 7x7, Gizmodo, Bitch Magazine, Longshot, My Love for You, and Jen Bekman's 20x200.
